Searching for Vickie

vickie garlitz

A Rare Shot of an Unforgotten Friend . . . Vickie Garlitz  and I (mickey [Michele] morgan) both came to NYC to become Harkness trainees in the summer of 1970. We roomed together when we first arrived at the East End Hotel (?) for Women . . . within walking distance of Harkness at 75th and 5th.

We spent our high school years in the Dayton Ballet, as did NYCB principal dancer Daniel Duell, his brother Joseph Duell as soloist in NYCB, and Donna Wood (Judith Jameson II!) in the Alvin Ailey Co., Amy Danis of Joffrey II, Rebekah Wright as principal in Joffrey, and Stuart Sebastian in Harkness One who went on to the National Ballet in Washington, D.C., and finally became artistic director of Dayton Ballet from which he had come. Artistic Directors and sisters Josephine and Hermene Schwarz must be given credit for this array of accomplished dancers.

Vickie displayed a soft beauty in her movement, as I remember her. She was a decisive person, and soon had gotten clarity and given priority to her own personal bliss which entailed leaving Harkness Ballet.

That is all I know. Seems Milton saw her this way too.

Milton Oleaga was insistent that his work not be sold, but go immediately into public domain and be distributed to their subjects.

If you recognize, or are, the dancer(s) depicted here, and would like to own the originals, I will mail it to you.

Please e-mail me at mickeypamo@gmail.com with a STREET address, and I will mail your photo(s) with a copyright release form.

Please pay postage and packaging (c.$6 . . . sorry, multiple photos cost what the P.O. determines)

If you are in a position to donate for the work I am doing with Milton’s photos, a donation would be truly appreciated, though not necessary.

(Use the Donate button for donations and/or postage when it is working . . . soon)

Otherwise, snail mail is nice and personal.
