In Honor of the late Ivan Nagy, by Harkness vet m. morgan

When the elegant Ivan Nagy came to Cincinnati to direct The Cincinnati Ballet, I had the opportunity to speak with him for nearly 2 hours. Conditions in the company were fairly rough, as in most professional dance companies. The following article appeared in the short-lived Cincinnati Arts. I’ve included the cover and the editorial masthead at the time . . . of course to serve as attributions to its first publication in magazine form c.1989.

  1. Thanks for this post. I was pianist for the Cincinnati Ballet during Ivan’s directorship. I loved working with him and his wife. I also worked with Freddie Franklin and Gelsey Kirkland during that great time.
